GREENSBORO, N.C. – After earning her fourth-career ACC Pitcher of the Week award last week, Keely Rochard claims her fifth in back-to-back fashion, the conference announced Tuesday.
Rochard (11-3) appeared in all five games for the Hokies (16-4) at the JU/UNF Spring Break Challenge, striking out 44 batters in 30 innings pitched and walking just two. She threw complete games in all four of her starts and didn't allow a hit in 43 straight at-bats between Saturday's game against Purdue (14-6) and Sunday morning's versus Stony Brook (7-3).
In the game at Jacksonville (13-7), Rochard threw her fourth-career no-hitter, striking out 13 batters and allowing just one walk. The no-hitter capped a Saturday that saw Rochard throw back-to-back complete-game shutouts.
Rochard and the Hokies will open ACC play this weekend at Virginia (8-8) in their Commonwealth Clash presented by Virginia529.
