Hokies return home vs. Tribe Wednesday

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech lacrosse team returns home after a three-game stretch on the road, where they won each time by an average of 7.6 goals and notched a win in the opening ACC contest of 2020.

Tech has won each of its last five contests, tying a program record.

The Hokies, who feature individuals on the offensive side of things putting up impressive number feature the nation's second-best defense, giving up just 6.40 goals per game. A big reason for that is goalie Angie Benson whose 5.61 goals against average is the best in the nation.

Saturday at Louisville, the Palm City, Florida native made 16 saves, a season-high as the Hokies defeated the Cardinals 8-7.

Tech's defense features five players, Mary Clare McCarthy, Emma Crooks, Leigh Lingo, Paige Petty and Elena Ricci that average over 1.4 caused turnovers per game.
