Hokie ClubThe Virginia Tech lacrosse team fell at Brown Wednesday 13-11 in a non-conference matchup in Providence, Rhode Island. For Tech, (7-3, 1-1) it is the second consecutive loss after last weekend's contest against then third-ranked Syracuse.
Brown improved to 4-3 (0-2) behind a five-goal effort from Risa Mosenthal and a four-goal performance from Alaina Parisella.
The Bears got out to a quick start, leading Tech trailed 5-1 after the first 14 minutes of action. They carried that momentum to an 8-4 lead at halftime.
"We spotted them too many goals today," head coach John Sung said postgame. "We were much better in the second half and we did a good job on the circle rotating in and figuring things out."
Tech came out in the second half and rattle off a three-goal run with Sara Goodwin, Emma Crooks and Kayla Frank all finding the net. But the Hokies could get no closer than one goal the rest of the way as the Bears would find a response each time the Hokies threatened their advantage.
Paige Petty finished the game with two goals and six draw controls and Goodwin and Caskey each tallied three points.
Angie Benson made 10 saves in goal for the Hokies.
