BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech men's tennis team put on a dominant display this afternoon, en route to a 6-1 victory over Appalachian State at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
The Hokies (3-2) jumped to an early lead with Carlo Donato and Mitch Harper teaming up in doubles to defeat their opponents on court two, 6-1, while Henrik Korsgaard and Alex Ribeiro earned a 6-4 win on court one.
The trend continued into singles, where on court one No. 120 Harper downed Aleksander Petrovic, 6-1, 6-3. Donato followed suit, defeating Matvey Radionov 6-3, 6-3, on court three.
Ribeiro clinched the Hokies' second home win of the season on court two with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Milo Bargeron.
Freshman Matthis Ross impressed on court four in a 6-1, 6-4 result against Alex Pavkovich. Chase Bernstine wrapped up the day with a tough win on court five against Alessio Azzalini, 7-6(3), 7-6(5).
Tech will return to action on Sunday to play Liberty at 1 p.m. at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
