ACC play begins Saturday for Sung, Hokies

BLACKSBURG – Following a 20-5 rout of Cincinnati Wednesday, the Virginia Tech lacrosse team (5-1) will open ACC play against Louisville on Saturday, February 29.
 


 
Paige Petty, who ranks second in the conference with 26 goals tallied her 150th of her career, becoming just the third player in Tech history to reach that mark. 
 


 
Jordan Tilley, sophomore defender, scored her first career point with an assist to Taylor Caskey.
 
In the Cincinnati game, four players scored a hat tricks; Petty, Emma Crooks, Kayla Frank and Caskey. The team outshot the Bearcats 39-7.

THE CARDINALS
Louisville faces Virginia Tech with a 3-2 record with both losses coming against top 15 opposition (Denver and Michigan). The Cardinals play at Longwood on Tuesday, March 3 after hosting the Hokies. 
 
THE SERIES WITH LOUISVILLE
●      Louisville leads the all-time series 5-2, although Tech has won the meeting in each of the last two seasons, both one-goal contests. Last season the Hokies won 17-16 at Thompson Field behind six points from Mary Claire Byrneand five goals from Paige Petty

NEXT TIME AT THE BEAMER-LAWSON INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY
●      The Hokies are back home at the Beamer-Lawson Indoor Practice Facility on Wednesday, March 4 when they play host to the William & Mary Tribe.
●      Tech has won all three of the past four meetings with the Tribe, but trail in the all-time series 4-6.
●      The last meeting was a 17-12 victory for Tech in 2017, that featured one half played at Thompson Field and one played indoors due to weather. Five Hokies scored hat tricks led by Marissa Davey's five points and in goal Meagh Graham made 10 saves.
