SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Virginia Tech women's tennis team fell to Notre Dame 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
Nika Kozar and Elizabet Danailova defeated Ally Bojczuk and Bess Waldram 6-0, on court two to start the day off. Notre Dame got the match on one, leaving down to three for the decision. Erika Cheng and Nina Sorkin paired up and forced the tiebreak against Zoe Spence and Julia Lilien, but the Irish held on to win it 7-6(5).
The Fighting Irish clinched the team win with points from singles courts one, five, and three.
Sorkin got the Hokies on the board picking up a 6-3, 6-3 win on court four as she defeated Ally Bojczuk.
On court six, Cheng dropped the first set 6-3 before rallying to win the second set byt the same margin to force a 10 point tiebreak. The freshman was down 5-0 before battling back to win the match 10-6.
The Hokies will be back on the court Friday, Feb. 28 for a 6 p.m. match against Duke in Durham, N.C.
