BLACKSBURG – For final time of the 2020 indoor season the Virginia Tech track and field teams return to rector field house as they host the Virginia Tech Challenge. Select Hokies will also head to Winston-Salem, North Carolina Friday night to compete at the JDL Distance Medley Relay invitational.
The Virginia Tech Challenge marks the fourth and final regular-season home meet for the Hokies this season. The two-day meet will begin at 5 p.m. ET on Friday and will commence again Saturday, with field events beginning at 11 a.m. Admission will be free for all fans and parking is available in the lots surrounding Rector Field House.
The men's and women's distance medley relay teams will compete at JDL, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
At the JDL Fast Track, admission will be free for spectators on Friday.

At the Iowa State Classic Peter Seufer (13:36.36) and Sara Freix (15:52.18) both set school records in the 5,000 meters as a total 11 members of the distance group recorded personal-best times.
At the Texas Tech Shootout Jacory Patterson (45.75) and Caitlan Tate (53.06) set school records in the 400 meters. Cole Beck also turned in a personal-best time of 21.26 in the 200 meters.
Hokies in the Rankings
In the latest the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor National Rating Index released on Monday, The Hokies entered the top-25 on both teams for the first time of the indoor season as Tech's women came in at No. 24, while the men jumped 8 spots to No. 18.
Nationally, the Hokies have 10 student-athletes who have times and marks that rank in the top-25. Tate ranks 16th in 200 meters and 18th in the 400 meters, Lindsey Butler sits 23rd in the 800 meters, Sarah Edwards is ranked seventh in the mile and 24th in the 3,000 meters, Freix is 12th in the 3,000 meters and 14th in the 5,000 meters and Rachel Baxter is second in the nation in the pole vault.
On the men's side, Beck ranks 17th in the 60-meter dash, Patterson sits third in the 400 meters, Diego Zarate ranks 11th in the mile, Bashir Mosavel-Lo sits 15th in the 800 meters, Seufer is eighth in the in the 3,000 meters and sixth in the 5,000 meters.
