ACCs Final Day Update: Six Hokies into finals

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech had six swimmers advance into the evening's finals while three other are set to compete in the 1650 free timed final during the last day of the 2020 ACC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. 

In the 200 backstroke, junior Emily Meilus swam a B cut of 1:56.03 to qualify for the B final while senior Margarita Ryan made the C final with a 1:58.16. 

Junior Joelle Vereb, sophomore Abby Larson and freshman Sarah Shackelford all swam NCAA B cuts in the 100 freestyle. Vereb and Larson qualified for the B finals with times of 48.82 and 49.14, respectively. Shackelford turned in a 49.30 to make the C finals. Larson and Shackelford also moved on the Tech Top-10 times list as Larson entered for the first time at fifth and Shackelford moved up to sixth. 

Freshman Morgan Miller posted an NCAA B cut of 1:57.80 in the 200 butterfly to advance to the evening's B finals. Her time was also enough to move her into fourth on the Tech all-time list. 

The Hokies' freshman Brooke Travis, sophomore Loulou Vos and senior Jenna Beattie will be in the pool for the 1650 freestyle timed finals.

Virginia Tech's Joelle Vereb made the A finals for the Hokies on the third day of competition at the 2020 ACC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. She led nine Hokies who qualified for the evening finals.
 
Vereb will compete in the A finals for the 100 fly. Kayla Purcell also had a big fly event, moving up in the Tech Top-10 list with a time of 53.06. In addition she qualified for the B finals tonight. 

In the 100 breaststroke, Erin Scott will return for the B finals, leading a trio of Hokies who made the finals as Jenna Thompson and Julia Smith are set for the C heat. 

Brooke Travis qualified for the C finals in the 400 IM while Sarah Shackelford and Loulou Vos will compete in the C in the 200 free. Emily Meilus will be back in the C finals of the 100 back.

– Virginia Tech's Joelle Vereb made the A finals for the Hokies on the second day of competition at the 2020 ACC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
 
Brooke Travis moved into 10th on the Hokies Top-10 times list in the 500 freestyle while Sarah Shackelford put up the eighth fastest time in the 50 freestyle.
