Tech falters to Clemson, 4-3

BLACKSBURG— The Virginia Tech women's tennis team fell to Clemson in a close 4-3 match on Friday afternoon.

The Hokies jumped out to a quick lead in the match, sweeping the doubles matches. Juniors Elizabet Danailova and Nika Kozar kicked off the day with 6-1 defeat on Court 2, followed by seniors Shene Disbergen and Natalie Novotna clinching the point Court 1 with a 6-2 result.

The singles portion of the match was full of marathon matches, with four out of six going into three sets. Clemson came out of the gate strong and grabbed wins on Courts 1, 4, 5 and 6.

Tech did not go down quietly, however. Kozar rallied from a first set deficit and won her match over Kenzy Middlebrooks on Court 2, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Danailova followed suit on Court 3, and earned a hard-fought victory against Eleni Louka, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(2).
