BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech wrestling travels to Raleigh, N.C. for a Friday night fight with NC State in Reynolds Coliseum at 7 p.m. on the ACC Network.
The No. 7 Hokies (11-1, 2-1 ACC) take on the No. 3 Wolfpack (13-0, 3-0) in a dual that has major ramifications on the ACC Dual Meet Championship. Tech is 27-33-1 all-time against NC State, with the Wolfpack winning the last meeting between the teams last season 17-16 in Blacksburg.

Hokies travel to Raleigh for dual with Wolfpack
- Virginia Tech and NC State meet on the mat for the 62nd time Friday night at Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack hold the series edge, 33-27-1.
- NC State took the last matchup 17-16 in Blacksburg last February. However, Virginia Tech is 8-2 against State in their last 10 meetings.
- The Hokies enter Friday night with an 11-1 record on the season, 2-1 in the ACC. NC State is a perfect 13-0, 3-0 ACC.
- Most recently, Tech defeated Duke 46-3 in Blacksburg and NC State beat in-state rival North Carolina 19-14 in Raleigh.
Ranked Matchups to be the Difference
- Virginia Tech is ranked seventh in the country by the NWCA Coaches' Poll. NC State is third.
- Tech has six wrestlers ranked by InterMat this week to NC State's five. There are four projected ranked matchups for Friday's dual, including No. 2 Hunter Bolen vs. No. 3 Trent Hidlay at 184 pounds.
- The other ranked matchups to watch for consist of No. 6 David McFadden vs. No. 10 Thomas Bullard, No. 18 B.C. LaPrade vs. No. 2 Hayden Hidlay and No. 19 Mitch Moore vs. No. 10 Tariq Wilson.
- Moore and Wilson met at the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas, where Wilson won a tight 5-3 decision in sudden victory.
Hokies Dismantle Duke on Senior Night
- After honoring six senior wrestlers at Virginia Tech's Moss Arts Center, the Hokies took down the Blue Devils 46-3 last week.
- Collin Gerardi and B.C. LaPrade both won by fall while Bryce Andonian, Cody Howard and John Borst picked up tech falls. Stanley Smeltzer also won by major decision.
- David McFadden and Hunter Bolen sat out of the dual vs. Duke.
- The Hokies won nine of the 10 matches, cruising to their 11th victory of the season and second conference win. Tech is now 2-1 in the ACC heading into Friday's dual with undefeated N.C. State.
Bolen, McFadden Setting the Pace for Tech
- Despite both of them sitting out against Duke, Hunter Bolen and David McFadden have been Tech's catalysts this season.
- Each of the two are ranked in the top 10 of their respective weight classes; Bolen is No. 2 at 184 pounds, McFadden No. 6 at 165.
- Bolen is 21-1 on the season and is 11-0 in dual matches. McFadden is 18-3 and 9-2 in duals.
