BLACKSBURG - The ACC Network (ACCN), the 24/7 national platform dedicated to ACC sports, will offer an expansive schedule of ACC baseball games for the 2020 season with more than 70 contests, including 41 conference matchups. Coupled with the 34 lacrosse events set for ACCN announced last week and 36 softball games, ACC spring sports will enjoy the most national coverage ever for the 2020 season with more than 140 total regular season and tournament games on the network.
Additionally, ACC Network Extra (ACCNX), ACCN's digital platform available on the ESPN App, will carry 354 baseball games throughout the spring, totaling the most coverage ever for the sport. First pitch for ACC baseball on ACCN begins Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. ET, with preseason No. 2 Louisville hosting Wright State, while Virginia Tech will appear on the ACC Network four times. The Hokies' 2020 numbers include 47 of its 56 games will be either linear or digital broadcasts, as of this release. All 29 Tech home games will be broadcast this spring, with 24 appearing on ACCNX, three on the ACC Network - Sunday, April 5 versus Wake Forest, Wednesday, April 15 versus James Madison and Tuesday, May 12 against Old Dominion - and two more will be on the Regional Sports Network, Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15 versus Miami.
All of Tech's ACC road games will also be broadcast with 14 available on the ACCNX and one - at Boston College on Friday, March 20 - will be on the ACC Network. As of this release, three other road contests will be available with Coastal Carolina broadcasting Tech's game with the Chanticleers on the school's sports network and two of the games at Louisiana (Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22-23) are available on the Ragin' Cajuns Digital Network.
The Hokies' season opener is just over a week away as Tech opens the 2020 season on Friday, Feb. 14 in Conway, South Carolina at the Brittain Resorts Baseball at the Beach tournament. Tech starts the year against San Diego State with first pitch slated for 11 a.m. in the opener, and also will face UNCG on Saturday (11 a.m.) and the host Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Sunday (3 p.m.).
