Strickler, Pereira earn VA-SID All-State Honors

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech men's soccer players Kristo Strickler and Daniel Pereira were named to the VaSID All-State teams, as announced by Virginia Sports Information Directors.

 

Strickler, who garnered second-team ACC and All-Region honors, had a career high 25 points (11 goals, 3 assists) on the season, including career bests in multi goal games (3) and game-winning goals (4).
 
The Hilliard, Ohio native also tallied a personal best three multi-goal games on the season. The first of which came when he scored two goals in Tech's 4-3 win against Hofstra. His next multi goal game also included the first hat trick of his career, as the Hokies defeated Gardner Webb 4-0. His. His final brace of the season came in the NCAA tournament, when the Tech defeated New Hampshire 4-1 in the round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament.  


 
Pereira, a freshman, was an important piece in Tech's midfield as he started all 19 games for the Hokies and finished third on the team with 1, 692 minutes played.
 
The Roanoke, Virginia native took time to find his grove, but came on strong towards the end of the season went on a tear as he totaled three goals and three assists over his final five games. The midfielder finished the year with five goals and team leading five assists for 15 points.
 
Lead by Head Coach Mike Brizendine in his 11th season with the program, Tech finished with a 10-6-3 record while facing the second toughest schedule in the nation
 
After an impressive regular season, the Hokies received were rewarded by making the NCAA Tournament for program best fourth consecutive time. The Hokies were awarded the 10th overall national seed, the highest seed ever received in program history, and a first-round bye.  Tech would use that to make their second-straight trip to the Sweet Sixteen and the third appearance in four seasons. For a full season recap, click HERE
