Hokies begin 2020 indoor season with Virginia Tech Invitational

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech track and field teams open their 2020 indoor season this weekend as they host the Virginia Tech Invitational at Rector Field House starting on Friday.
 
The two-day meet will begin at 5 p.m. ET on Friday and will commence again on Saturday at 11 a.m. Admission will be free for all fans.
 
The Hokies will play host to fellow ACC schools Duke, Pitt, UNC, Virginia and Wake Forest along with six other well-known programs such as Elon, Howard University, Liberty, Tennessee, UNC Charlotte and VCU.

The men enter the indoor season as the defending ACC champions, sharing the title with Florida State. Of the 21 student-athletes to receive All-ACC honors during the 2018 indoor season, the men's team returns 12, while the women's team brings back five.
 
Last year at the Virginia Tech invitational, the Hokies saw Jacory Patterson (300 meters), Kennedy Dennis (300 meters), Hans Gallagher (500 meters), Arlicia Bush (500 meters), Rachel Pocratsky (1,000 meters), Bashir Mosavel-Lo (1,000 meters), Sarah Edwards (mile) and Tyson Jones (shot put) all win event titles. On top of winning the 300-meter dash, Patterson also set a new school and U-20 world record with his time of 32.49 in the event.
