Hokie ClubVERO BEACH, Fla. – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team wrapped up its final tournament, before the dual slate is set to begin, on Sunday at the Vero Beach invite in Vero Beach, Florida.
Natalie Novotna and Shene Disbergen paired up to knock off Kentucky's pair of Anastasia Tkachenko and Akvile Parazinskaite with a tally of 6-3. Tech's duo of Rita Pinto and Nina Sorkin also claimed a win, defeating the Wildcats' Diana Tkachenko and Carla Girbau, 7-5.
The Hokies will kick off the dual slate on Jan. 26 in a doubleheader at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

VERO BEACH, Fla. – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team wrapped up the second day of competition on Saturday at the Vero Beach Invitational in Vero Beach, Florida.
Rita Pinto grabbed the singles win after falling in the first set 6-3 to Loyola Marymount's Camila Tumosa. The Tech sophomore responded to win the next two with a margin of 6-3.
In doubles, Annie Clark and Shene Disbergen teamed up to defeat the Lions' duo of Sofia Booth and Nevada Apollo with a score of 8-6.
Tech will wrap up the tournament on Sunday.

VERO BEACH, Fla. – The Hokies got off to a strong start on Friday at the Vero Beach Invitational in Vero Beach, Florida.
Nika Kozar paired up with Elizabet Danailova for a doubles win with the two taking on Loyola Marymount's Siobhan Anderson and Lillian Gabrielsen. The Tech duo battled as the match went to a breaker where the Hokies held on to take it 8-7(5).
Kozar claimed the win in singles as well, defeating Kentucky's Carla Girbau in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Danailova also had the win in singles, knocking off the Wildcats' Anastasia Tkachenko. The two kept it close in the first set, but Danailova secured it in the tiebreak 7-6(1). In the second set, the Tech player rolled to the 6-1 decision to win the match.
Nina Sorkin also had the win on the day as she won the first set before Kentucky's Brianna Tulloch retired.
The Hokies will be back on the court Saturday.
