BLACKSBURG – Logan Mosley of the Virginia Tech volleyball team was named to VaSID all-state second-team on Friday, as announced by the organization. The Libero was nominated and voted upon by the sports information directors in the state of Virginia.

Mosley, as a freshman, had one of the best seasons in the history of the Tech volleyball team. Mosley broke records, ranked highly in ACC statistical standings, helped lead the Hokies to key victories and had spectacular performances throughout the 2019 season.

The libero finished with the most digs in the ACC with 507 on the season, while simultaneously breaking the Tech record for most digs in a season by a freshman. Mosley also ended the season ranked fourth in the ACC in digs per set with a 4.21 average.

The Hokies, as a team, were one of the best squads in the ACC with over 1,700 digs on the year and ranked fourth in the ACC in digs per set with an average of 14.40. Mosley contributed significantly to this success as she was the team leader in digs.

The freshman helped the Hokies win essential matches with terrific performances throughout the year. Against Davidson, Mosley set the single-match Tech record for most digs with 39 in the 3-1 victory over the Wildcats. Mosley recorded 27 digs, four assists and three aces in the five-set defeat over Wake Forest on the road.

In the five-set, win at Clemson, the North Carolina native yet again had three aces along with 13 digs. In the regular-season finale against the Tar Heels, Mosley scooped up 15 digs, dished out six assists and had one ace.

Mosley played in all 31 matches on the season and had 17 matches where she had 15 digs or more. The freshman also led the Hokies in aces with 27 on the year.

She joins Kaity Smith (VaSID Freshman of the Year) as Hokies that have earned awards from the organization over the last three years.
