BLACKSBURG - Lane Stadium under the lights is like nothing else in college football. Virginia Tech hosts Duke on Friday night in a game nationally televised by ESPN and we need our students to be part of the environment to show the country what being a Hokie really means.
One of the defining features of Lane Stadium is the energy the students bring to the atmosphere. Due to feedback received from students, post-game survey comments, and incident reports from the first two home games of the season, the Virginia Tech Department of Athletics announced Wednesday that it will make adjustments to the student entrance process in advance of the game against Duke on Friday night. These adjustments will stay in effect throughout the season, with game-by-game modifications made as necessary.
Students who are assigned a seat in the North End Zone must enter through the specific North End Zone gates at Gate 7 (the Northeast corner of the Stadium next to the Beamer-Lawson Indoor Practice Facility). Upon entry, students will receive and wear a wristband which will allow them to enter and exit the North Stands as they desire without the need to continually check tickets for admission.
Students who have tickets for any of the other student sections in the stadium may enter at any gate surrounding Lane Stadium and find their specified seat in either the East Stands or the South End Zone.
The map below shows where students with a North End Zone ticket are able to enter Lane Stadium. The wristband will need to be applied before the student enters the North concourse.
Timeline for Students to help plan their experience:
Gates Open - Two hours prior to kickoff (5 p.m. for Duke)
Pregame/Enter Sandman - plan to be in your seats 30 minutes prior to kickoff (6:30 p.m.) so you can participate in all of the pregame traditions
Kickoff - 7 p.m.
