Tech Athletics holds senior reception

BLACKSBURG – More than 50 Tech student-athletes were honored during the annual senior reception sponsored by the Office of Student-Athlete Development in Lane Stadium on Thursday.

The evening's events included photos with the Hokie Bird and opening remarks from Senior Director of Student-Athlete Development Natalie Forbes. Shelbylynn Adair, Hokie Club annual giving coordinator, provided information on the Virginia Tech Monogram Club, and former Hokie women's golfer Whitney Stevenson talked about her experience as a student-athlete and what it means to be a member of the Monogram Club member.

Paul Torgersen, assistant director of development for leadership gifts, spoke about the Hokie Club Recent Grad Program and encouraged the soon-to-be grads to stay connected to Virginia Tech through alumni engagement and philanthropy.

Student-athletes in attendance also received four-year letterwinner rings and commemorative sashes that were worn during Virginia Tech's spring commencement Friday on Worsham Field in Lane Stadium.

Family, friends, coaches and teammates filled the South End Zone East Club in support of the graduating student-athletes in attendance.

In all, more than 100 VT student-athletes and spirit squad members celebrated their spring and summer graduations during spring commencement, with Hall of Fame Hokies football coach Frank Beamer serving as the commencement speaker.Gallery: (5/16/2019) 2019 ATHLETICS GRADUATION RECEPTION
