Hokies recognized by NWCA Scholar All-American awards

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech wrestling program earned a top 30 GPA in Division I this season and three Hokies were named Scholar All-Americans, the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced last week.

Redshirt seniors Tom Sleigh, Billy Miller and Zack Zavatsky picked up the organization's top academic honor by qualifying for the NCAA Championships and attaining a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Zavatsky, now a three-time Scholar All-American, was one of 39 out of the possible 80 All-Americans that were named Scholar All-Americans.

The Hokies turned in a team GPA of 3.21, an average that ranked 24th in the country. Tech's 2019 team GPA was the second-highest of any ACC school behind Duke's 3.35 team GPA.
