Hokies wrap up fall competition at Chowder Fest

BOSTON – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team wrapped up competition at Harvard's Chowder Fest on Sunday in Boston.
 
Henrik Korsgaard got a win for the Hokies on the final competition day of the fall. Korsgaard claimed the first set 6-3, over Harvard's Ronan Jachuck. In the second set, the two played to a 6-6 tie, and Jachuck was able to hold on in the tiebreak to win it 7-6(5). Korsgaard rolled in the final set, winning it 6-2.
 
The Hokies will return to the court in January for spring duals.

-- DAY TWO -- 
BOSTON – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team turned in another solid day at Harvard's Chowder Fest on Saturday in Boston.
 
Sophomore Brandon Perez won his first set against Indiana's Vkash Singh 6-0, but the Hoosier player retired after one game in the second.
 
Perez teamed up with Ryan Kros for a pair of doubles matches on the day. The two went in to a tiebreak against Cornell's pair of Evan Bynoe and Daniel Soyfer, but the Tech duo rolled in the breaker to secure it 7-6(1).
 
In the second doubles match of the day, Kros and Perez downed Harvard's Logan Weber and Henry von der Schulenburg 6-2.
 
Alex Ribeiro continued a strong return to the court as he claimed a singles win over Boston University's Owen Lu, winning 6-2, 6-2. He also paired up with Henrik Korsgaard for a doubles in against Indiana's Patrick Fletchell and Zac Brodney, 6-3.
 
Freshman Michael Shepheard faltered in the first set versus the Hoosier's Fletchell 6-4, but rallied to win the second set by the same margin. Shepheard secured the win 6-2 in the third set.
 
The Hokies will wrap up competition on Sunday.

BOSTON
– The Virginia Tech men's tennis team got off to a solid start on Friday during the opening day of Chowder Fest in Boston, Massachusetts.
 
Tech's Alex Ribeiro was back on the court for the first time this fall as he rolled past Cal's Jacob Brumm, 6-1, 6-1. Henrik Korsgaard also claimed a straight set win, defeating the Golden Bears' Kent Hunter 7-6(2), 6-3.
 
Brandon Perez battled Cornell's Lev Kazakov. After winning the first set 6-4, Perez faltered in the second by the same margin. In the final set, the two kept it close, but Perez held on to win it 7-5.
 
Chase Bernstine secured a 6-4, 6-3 win over Cal's Thomas Wright.
 
In doubles, Perez teamed up with Ryan Kros for a 7-5 win over Cal's Jack Molloy and Wright.
 
The Hokies will be back on the court beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
