BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech wrestling takes it outside this Sunday when they host Northwestern at English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park in the first-ever Mat on the Mound. The outdoor dual is free to the public and can be seen on ACC Network Extra.

Tech Hosts Northwestern in Mat on the Mound
• Sunday is the first time Hokies wrestling hosts an outdoor meet.
• This is the second all-time meeting between Virginia Tech and Northwestern. Last year, the Wildcats defeated the Hokies 20-16 in Evanston.
• The Hokies host their second dual of the season. Both of Tech's opponents this year have been ranked in the NWCA Coaches Poll.
• Last week, the Hokies upset then-No. 9 Missouri in an emphatic 29-10 victory at Cassell Coliseum.

• Virginia Tech has five wrestlers ranked in this week's Intermat rankings. Northwestern has two wrestlers ranked.
• All five of the ranked Hokies are scheduled to wrestle Sunday.
• After a sudden victory decision over No. 16 Jarrett Jacques, No. 18 B.C. LaPrade faces off with No. 3 Ryan Deakin. LaPrade was named ACC Wrestler of the Week.

LaPrade Named ACC Wrestler of the Week
• The ACC announced Tuesday that Hokies redshirt junior B.C. LaPrade was named the conference's wrestler of the week.
• LaPrade upset No. 16 Jarrett Jacques in sudden victory to help Tech take down Missouri last week.
• This is the third time LaPrade has been named ACC Wrestler of the Week. He has been honored each of the past three seasons now.
• No. 18 LaPrade is scheduled to wrestle third-ranked Ryan Deakin Sunday.
Three Hokies Win Titles at Southeast Open
• Tech's Sam Latona, Jake Hart and Hunter Graf each finished first at Sunday's tournament in Roanoke, Va. Eleven Hokies placed.
• Latona went 3-0 in the 125-open division to claim the title. Hart and Graf each went 5-0 in the 149 and 125 freshman/sophomore divisions respectively.
• Stanley Smeltzer, Tech's lone starter to participate, went 3-1 and finished third in the 197-open division.
