BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech football team is back on the field this Saturday, November 9th as they welcome the No. 22 Wake Forest Demon Deacons to Lane Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ACC Network.
 
Virginia Tech Athletics will honor longtime defensive coordinator and associate head coach Bud Foster in a pregame ceremony Saturday.

TECH RETURNS HOME TO FACE WAKE FOREST               
• Virginia Tech returns home to resume ACC play as Wake Forest makes its first appearance in Lane Stadium since the Hokies registered a 52-21 win (10/16/10). 
• The Hokies are coming off a gut-wrenching 21-20 last-minute loss at Notre Dame (11/2), while Wake posted a 44-10 win vs. NC State (11/2). 
• The Hokies have won six of their last seven home games and are seeking a third straight win at Lane Stadium.
• Wake is 6-1 on the road since the start of the 2018 campaign, including five straight wins.  
• A 62-59 setback vs. Louisville (10/12) is the only blemish on Wake's 2019 record. Dating back to a 59-7 win at Duke (11/24/18), WF owns a 9-1 record. 
• Tech owns a trifecta of victories against ranked opponents under head coach Justin Fuente. The Hokies are seeking their first win against a Top 10 foe since registering a 35-21 win at No. 8 Ohio State (9/6/14). 
• Virginia Tech's last win against an AP Top 25 team was a 31-14 victory at No. 22 Duke (9/29/18).
• Common foes: VT and WF own ACC wins vs. UNC. Wake registered a win at BC, while Tech lost at BC. 
 
KEY SCORING STATS ON HOKIES, DEACONS 
• VT owns a 26-1 mark under Fuente when leading at half.
• Tech is 21-3 when scoring 30+ points under Fuente.
• After averaging 23.3 ppg in its first four games of the season VT has averaged 34.8 ppg in its last four games.
• Wake Forest is 6-24 when allowing 30+ points under Dave Clawson, including a 2-12 mark on the road. 
• WF is 9-1 in its last 10 games, averaging 40.0 ppg and allowing 23.8 ppg. Only three teams have topped the 30-point mark vs. Wake over that 10-game span.  
• Wake Forest (38.0 ppg) ranks second in the ACC in scoring & total offense (510.6 ypg).

• Tech ranks seventh in the ACC, averaging 165.9 rushing ypg.
 
DOMINATE THEIR STATE     
•  VT owns a 9-1 record vs. teams from North Carolina under Fuente. 
• VT owns a combined 34-8 (.810) all-time record in ACC play against teams from the state of North Carolina: 13-3 vs. Duke, 13-3 vs. UNC, 4-1 vs. NC State and 4-1 vs. Wake Forest. 
 
TECH'S TRIFECTA OF QUARTERBACKS   
• VT has started three different QBs (Ryan Willis, Hendon Hooker, Quincy Patterson) in the same season for the first time since 1998. 
• QB Hendon Hooker has gone 3-0 record in his three starts, completing 34 of 59 passes (57.6%) for 572 yards with seven TDs and no INTs (178.2 rating) in those contests. He has also rushed 41 times for 160 yards with one TD. He was injured in the first half vs. UNC (10/19) and didn't play last week at Notre Dame (11/2). 
• QB Quincy Patterson relieved an injured Hooker vs. UNC (10/19), running for 122 yards with a 53-yard TD run and a TD pass.
• Patterson made his first career start at ND (11/2), rushing for 84 yards, while throwing for 139 yards with one TD. He has rushed 40 times for 199 yards (5.0 avg.) with one TD the past two games. 
• Tech leads the ACC in Red Zone offense (96.8%) - 22 TDs & 8 FGs on 31 Red Zone possessions.
