Hokies to meet Stanford in Round of 16 Sunday Night

After defeating New Hampshire last Sunday at Thompson Field, the 10th seeded Virginia Tech men's soccer team returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 1 for a Sweet Sixteen match with 7th seeded Stanford.

The last time out, the Hokies scored a post-season program record four goals in their 4-1 victory against New Hampshire. Kristo Strickler's brace led the way as James Kasak and Camron Lennon also tallied goals in the win.

Stanford Cardinal (13-2-4, 6-2-2)
Stanford is coming off an overtime thriller, tying Seattle University 1-1 in regulation before keeper Andrew Thomas's four saves helped advance the Cardinal 2-1 on PKs. They are led in goals by both Zach Ryan (6) and Gabe Segal (6) and in points by Ousseni Bouda (15 points; 5 goals, 5 assists).

  • Tech is looking to reach the Elite Eight for the first time since 2016 when they defeated Indiana 2-1 in overtime.
