Hokies close out November home slate with Davidson Sunday evening

BLACKSBURG – After another resounding victory, the Virginia Tech women's basketball team is set to return to the Carilion Clinic Court for the final time this month, for a 5 p.m. matchup with Davidson on Sunday, November 24.
 
Last time out on Tuesday, the Hokies doubled up Maryland Eastern Shore 86-43 behind a breakout performance from forward Trinity Baptiste. The Tampa, Florida native had 20 points on 7 of 10 shooting from the floor and also registered a season best eight rebounds.
 
In the rout of the Hawks, five Hokies recorded double figures, led by Baptiste's 20, followed by Aisha Sheppard's 18, Alex Obouh Fegue who added 12 off the bench, and Dara Mabrey and Elizabeth Kitley's 10 points apiece. 
 
On the season, Tech is shooting 52% from the floor, the best mark in the ACC and are scoring at an 85.3 point per game clip.

THE WILDCATS
The Wildcats head to Blacksburg 4-1 on the season with victories over Georgetown, UC Irvine, Kansas City and Western Carolina. They fell at Drexel 74-63 in the second game of the season. 
 
Davidson ran past Western Carolina 101-51 at home on Wednesday night, with 12 different players making a field goal, led by Suzi-Rose Gould's 16-point effort.
 
On the season, the Wildcats are shooting 46% from the field and are outrebounding their opponents by an average of five rebounds per game.
 
THE MATCHUP WITH DAVIDSON
The programs have only met once previously during the 2004-05 season with the Hokies winning 87-62 on Cassell Coliseum. Forward Erin Gibson led the Hokies with 21 points and nine rebounds in the contest and current assistant coach Britney Anderson added six points and five rebounds.
 
NOTES ON THE HOKIES
HOKIES DOMINATING NON-CONFERENCE PLAY
•Since his arrival in Blacksburg in 2016, Coach Brooks has owned the non-conference portion of the season. In two of his three seasons, he has led the Hokies to perfect records heading into ACC play.
•Including the postseason, the Hokies are 51-8 under Brooks in the non-conference. 
•Brooks is 10-3 against schools from the other Power 4 conferences during his tenure in Blacksburg, including a perfect 4-0 mark against the SEC. 
55 STRAIGHT WINS AT CASSELL COLISEUM
•The Hokies have won each of the last 55 home games against non-conference opposition including postseason competition.
•Tech's last home loss in the non-conference came December 6, 2014 against Longwood.
•The Hokies begin the season with six home games out of 11 in the non-conference portion of the season leading up to the first ACC game 12/29 at Florida State. •Four of the other five games are at a neutral site. 
SHEPPARD STARTS HER ASCENT TOWARDS TOP
•Junior guard Aisha Sheppard began the season with 138 3's to her credit, the eighth-most in program history. She needs just 10 more to reach the top five.
•She trails teammate Kendyl Brooks by 13.
•Sheppard has gotten off to a hot start in 2019-20, averaging 19.0 points through the first four games, which included a career best 22 in a homecoming game at George Mason.
NEXT TIME ON THE HARDWOOD
•The Hokies are traveling to Daytona Beach, Florida to participate in the Daytona Beach Invitational with games against Belmont Friday, Nov. 29 and Georgia on Saturday, Nov. 30.
NEXT TIME ON CARILION CLINIC COURT
•Tech will return to Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum on Wednesday, December 5 to take on Purdue on ACC Network Extra. Tipoff for that contest which is a part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge is set for 7 p.m.
•Tech has won four straight in that competition.
•In the only previous meeting in 2002, the Boilermakers won 80-72 in West Lafayette, Indiana in the NCAA Tournament.
