BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set for the three-day Ohio State Invitational that will feature both long-course and short-course events at McCorkle Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.

HOKIE MEN

  • The Hokies rolled past DII No. 1 Queens the last time out.
    • Tech won 13 events.
    • The Hokies swept the top-3 spots in both the 100 and 200 backstroke
  • Five Hokies won two events each –
    • Sam Tornqvist: 100 & 200 back
    • Thomas Hallock: 50 & 100 free
    • Filippo Dal Maso: 500 & 1000 free
    • Simon Shi: 100 & 200 breast
    • Blake Manoff: 100 fly & 200 IM
  • Hokie Butterfly – Top Times Nationally
    • Blake Manoff
      • Fifth fastest time this season in the 100 fly – 47.13 in a tri-meet versus Penn State and Ohio State.
      • Ninth fastest time in 200 fly – 1:45.95 versus George Washington
    • Antani Ivanov
      • Sixth fastest time in 200 fly – 1:45.37 versus George Washington
  • Virginia Tech has posted the eighth fastest time in the 400 medley relay with Tornqvist, Shi, Manoff and Hallock turning in a 3:15.61 against Penn State, Ohio State.

HOKIE WOMEN

  • The Hokies downed DII No. 1 Queens and Richmond the last time out.
    • Tech claimed seven events and finished second in seven.
    • The Hokies swept the top-3 spots on the 1-meter boards with Brooke Leftwich, Teagan Moravek and Izzi Mroz.
  • Thirteen Hokies that are freshmen or sophomores scored in the top-3 thirteen times.
    • Loulou Vos (SO) won both the 200 free and the 500 free.
    • Rose Pouch (FR): 2nd – 200 back, 3rd – 200 IM, 3rd – 200 free
    • Brooke Travis (FR): 2nd – 1000 free
    • Jenna Thompon (FR): 2nd – 100 breast
    • Karisa Franz (FR): 1st – 100 fly
    • Anna Landon (SO): 1st – 50 free
    • Julia Bruneau (SO): 2nd – 50 free
