BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team wrapped up the fall slate on Saturday at the UK Invite in Lexington, Kentucky.
 
Rita Pinto secured a win for the Hokies on the day as she defeated DePaul's Alina Kuzmenkova in straight sets with scores of 6-3, 6-0.
 
The Hokies will be back in action in January when they open the dual part of the schedule.

BLACKSBURG, Va. –
Splitting time at two events this weekend, the Virginia Tech women's tennis team was led on the day by Nika Kozar who picked up a win in both singles and doubles at the UK Invite.
 
UK Invite
Kozar grabbed the win in singles as she downed DePaul's Aspasia Avgeri in straight sets with scores of 6-2, 6-3.
 
In the double's match, she paired up with Rita Pinto for an 8-6 win over Miami's (OH) Brindtha Ramasamy and Milan Lysova.
 
Elizabet Danailova played a close singles match as she faced off against Kentucky's Brianna Tulloch. Danailova secured the first set 6-3, but the Wildcat player responded to hold on for the 7-5 win the second. The third set was tied at 6-6 to force the tiebreak in which Tulloch was again able to hold on to take it 7-6(4).

Dick Vitale Clay Court
The Hokies wrapped up competition at the Dick Vitale Clay Court. Natalie Novotna battled against Oklahoma's Marcelina Podlinksa as the two went to three in the main draw of singles. Podlinksa took the first set 6-2, but Novotna responded to win the second 6-4. In the super breaker, Podlinksa outlasted Novotna 1-0(4).
 
Shene Disbergen also played a close match in the consolation draw, facing Nicole Hammond of Michigan. The two kept it close, but Hammond held the advantage to win it 7-5, 7-5.

The Virginia Tech women's tennis team is splitting duty this weekend with Hokies competing at both the Dick Vitale Clay Court and the University of Kentucky Invitational.
 
Dick Vitale Clay Court
Senior Natalie Novotna, coming off a semifinal finish at the ITA Atlantic Regional, continued her momentum with a pair of wins on the opening day of the Dick Vitale Clay Court Championships.
 
She opened with a win over Michigan's Lanie Van Linge, defeating the Wolverine with straight set scores of 6-2, 6-0. In the second match of the day, Novotna downed Florida's Tsveta Dimitrova 7-5, 6-2.
 
In doubles, Novotna paired up with Shene Disbergen as the two knocked off Boston College's pair 8-1. The Tech duo fell in the second match to Oklahoma State 8-4.

UK Invite
At the Kentucky Invitational, Nina Sorkin got a win in singles for the Hokies, defeating Miami's (OH) Milana Lysova with a score of 6-4, 6-1.
 
Rita Pinto added another win for the Hokies as she battled past Ohio's Laura Rico. After winning the first set 6-4, Pinto fell 6-3 in the second. In the final set, Pinto rallied to take it 6-3.
 
On the doubles side, Nika Kozar paired up with Elizabet Danailova to defeat a Penn State pair, 8-1.
