BLACKSBURG - Wednesday served as National Signing Day across the nation and Virginia Tech head coach Kenny Brooks announced the signing of four exceptional young women to the Hokies' program; Georgia Amoore, Nevaeh Dean, Shamarla King and Shelby Calhoun."Every year, you want to recruit a class that gives you the ability to be elite," Brooks said Wednesday when asked about the Hokies' class. "That means getting players who fit your philosophy, your style of play, exemplifies character that represents your university and fills your needs. This class does just that. Each of these young ladies brings something special to our program, and we are proud and excited they are Hokies!"
MEET THE CLASS OF 2020
Georgia Amoore
Amoore is a 5-foot-5 guard from Ballarat, Australia, and is one of the top basketball prospects in her home country. She competes for Loreto College Ballarat, which helps prepare athletes for the Australian National Teams.
Amoore has represented her country multiple times on the world stage, most recently guiding Australia's U18 team to a gold medal in the FIBA 3x3 U18 Asia Cup in Malaysia. She also won gold in the U16 Asia Cup in 2017 and bronze in the U18 World Cup in 2018.
A true point guard, Amoore played for the Ballarat Rush for three seasons, earning Rising Star award in 2019. The Rush competes in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) in Australia.

Nevaeh Dean
Dean is a 6-foot-2 forward from Hamilton, Ohio. She has earned four varsity letters at Lakota West High where she has been named first team GMC, honorable mention All-State and first team All-District.
She competed for Sports City U, which is annually one of the top club teams on the AAU circuit.

Shamarla King
A 6-foot guard from Hartford, Connecticut, King played club ball for CT Heights. For the Watkinson School, King has won three varsity letters, winning MVP awards in 2016 and 2017. Last season she collected the Coaches Award.

Shelby Calhoun
Calhoun is a 5-foot-11 guard hailing from Louisville, Kentucky where she is a 2A State Champion (2019), and earned State Tournament MVP honors along the way. She was also named the NAAPS Region 4 Kentucky Player of the Year & Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.
She has guided her AAU team, Indy Gym Rats, to the 2018 EYBL Final Four and earned a spot on the 2018 EYBL All-Tourney team. The versatile guard was an AP second team All-State honoree in 2018.
Calhoun has earned All-district, All-Region and All-Metro each season in high school at Christian Academy of Louisville. In addition, Calhoun has been an Academic All-State selection three times.
She has posted over 1,800 points and 1,200 rebounds for her career and has also been recognized as honorable mention All-State in 2017 and AP second team All-State in 2018.

The Hokies are back on the court on Friday, November 15 when they take on the Liberty Flames on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen on ACC Network Extra.
