Kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. for Homecoming contest vs. North Carolina

BLACKSBURG – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Monday that Virginia Tech's home football contest against North Carolina will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Lane Stadium. The game will be televised on Regional Sports Networks. Affiliates are typically confirmed 10 days prior to the contest. 
 
Festivities surrounding the North Carolina game will begin with the 2019 Homecoming Parade beginning in downtown Blacksburg at 9 a.m. ET. The parade will feature performances by the Highty-Tighties, the Marching Virginians and the VT Spirit Squads (including HokieBird). The 2019 Homecoming Court and Virginia Tech student organizations will also take part in the parade. The North Carolina game will also serve as this year's Maroon Effect game in conjunction with the Virginia Tech Student Government Association – all fans are encouraged to wear maroon. 
 
Pregame festivities will continue when Hokie Village opens at Noon. At 12:05 p.m., SJ McDonald will take the stage for an approximately 40-minute set prior to the Hokie Walk at approximately 1 p.m. Following the Hokie Walk, The Jared Stout Band is scheduled to perform for over an hour in Hokie Village beginning at 1:30 p.m. This exciting local act making waves in the music industry. With a confidently entertaining stage presence and original music that gets the crowd moving, they approach the stage from all the right angles, performing a versatile sound of Americana blended with Blues, Country, Soul and Rock. 
 
Hokie Village will also be the home of a beer garden as a pregame entertainment option for fans looking for easily accessible family friendly tailgating options. As it is a controlled area, fans cannot bring in beer from outside of Hokie Village nor leave Hokie Village without consuming their beverages. Hokie Village will close 45 minutes prior to kickoff, allowing fans ample time to enter Lane Stadium.
