BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women's tennis team bowed out of the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships in the semifinals today.
Senior Natalie Novotna fell to top-seeded Paola Delgado of VCU, 6-4, 6-3.
Today's result wraps up a tournament for Tech which saw Hokies advance to the semifinals in the singles bracket and the quarterfinals of the doubles' bracket.
The Hokies return to action on Friday, Nov. 1, at the Dick Vitale Clay Courts as well as the UK Fall Invite. Novotna and senior Shene Disbergen will make the trip to the competition in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. with the rest of the team competing in Lexington, Kentucky.

BLACKSBURG - Senior Natalie Novotna advances to the final day of competition as she moves into the semifinals at the 2019 ITA Women's Tennis Atlantic Regional Championships.
Novotna knocked off Virginia's Vivian Glozman on Monday in the quarterfinals as she claimed the 6-2, 6-2 straight set win. She advances into Tuesday's semifinals and will face VCU's Paola Delgado who is the tournament's top-seed.
Matches are set to begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women's tennis team has wrapped up day three of the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship with senior Natalie Novotna advancing to the singles quarterfinals.
Single's action kicked off with Novotna defeating Radford's Drousile Dzeubou, 6-4, 6-1. In the round of 16, Novotna kept rolling, downing Brooke Pilkington of ODU, 6-4, 6-3. Juniors Nika Kozar and Nina Sorkin bowed out in the round of 32.
Novotna and sophomore Rita Pinto fell to ODU's combination of Starodubsteva and Yakubovich in the doubles quarterfinal.
In the back draw, sophomore Rita Pinto defeated Katarina Marinkovikj of George Washington, 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore Annie Clark toughed out a result against George Washington's Sarah Bodewes, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0(14).
Tech will be on the court again tomorrow when Novotna competes in the singles quarterfinal round.

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women's tennis team hit their stride in today's ITA Atlantic Regional Championship with three Hokies advancing in the main draw singles.
The day started with top-seeded duo of senior Natalie Novotna and sophomore Rita Pinto topping the George Mason pair of Paige La and Hannah Yang, 8-5.
Novotna and Pinto continued their success in the round of 16, dropping the UVA doubles group of Hunter Bleser and Camille Favaro, 8-4.
The Hokies soared through the first round of singles actions. Novotna dropped Caisey Lee Emery of Liberty, 6-3, 6-2. Sorkin defeated Duquesne's Laurel Shymansky, 6-2, 6-1. Kozar rounded up the action with a 6-4, 7-5 win against Anne-Sophie Courteau of West Virginia.
Tech will return to action tomorrow in the doubles quarterfinals and singles round of 32 and 16.

BLACKSBURG- The Virginia Tech women's tennis team began competition in the ITA Regional Championship today.
Sophomore Rita Pinto kicked off the day with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Radford's Malin Falk, before falling to 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 to Katsiaryna Yemelyenenka of Maryland.
Junior Shene Disbergen and sophomore Annie Clark stumbled in their qualifiers, but rebounded in the consolation bracket. Clark defeated Marshall's Daniela Dankanych, 6-1, 1-6, 1-0(3) ad Disbergen downed Oleksandra Doroshenko, 7-5, 6-1.
In the doubles bracket, Clark and Disbergen dropped their match to Mitta and Lee of Duquesne, 8-6.
Tomorrow, senior Natalie Novotna (#4 seed) and juniors Nina Sorkin and Nika Kozar will begin their singles journey in the round of 64. In doubles, Pinto and Novotna are the top-seed in the field, while Kozar and Sorkin are the tenth-seed.
