BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech women's tennis head coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Woods announces the hiring of Larry Holmes as a new volunteer assistant coach.
The Lindsborg, Kansas native served as the interim men's and women's head coach at Bethany College during the 2018-19 season. His duties included overseeing recruitment and facilitating practices and workouts for both men's and women's teams. Prior to his stint at Bethany, Holmes was the men's and women's head coach at Benedictine University.
Additionally, Holmes holds experience as tennis counselor at the University of Michigan summer tennis camps and the Naval Academy Tennis Center, and as staff tennis professional at Kiwanis Recreation Center.

In addition to his collegiate experience, Holmes was the boy's head tennis coach at Tempe Union High School where he coached over 20 players to the Arizona High School State Championship and had three teams finish in the top-15 in the Arizona 6A standings. During his tenure, he coached three players to Region Player of Year honors while also nabbing Coach of the Year accolades for himself.
Holmes graduated from Johnson C. Smith University with a degree in Physical Education & Sport Management.
