Picking up her second preseason honor in as many days, Virginia Tech's Carrie Eberle was tabbed a preseason third-team All-American, according to Justin's World of Softball on Wednesday.
Eberle is joined by five other ACC players, including Florida State's Meghan King, Sydney Sherrill and Carsyn Gordon and Syracuse's Alexa Romero and Bryce Holmgren. All six of the players were named to the preseason All-ACC team on Tuesday.
Eberle is the only returning player in the conference to lead her team in both ERA and home runs. Her 1.65 ERA ranked third in the ACC last spring and her eight home runs were tied for 12th.
The North Carolina native became the first ACC player to earn at least a share of both conference weekly honors since at least 2011 when she was named ACC Player of the Week and Co-Pitcher of the Week back in April.
In the circle, Eberle ranked third in the ACC in opponent's batting average (.182), tied for third in complete games (19), seventh in innings pitched (173.2), tied for first in home runs allowed (3) and 11th in strikeouts (120).
Tech will begin its season on Feb. 8, taking on Wichita State and Central Michigan in Charleston, South Carolina at the Cougar Classic, as College of Charleston plays host.
