BLACKSBURG– The Virginia Tech football team is back at Lane Stadium this Saturday after winning their home opener over Old Dominion 31-17, when Southern Conference foe Furman makes the trip to Blacksburg. Kickoff is set for 12 PM.

TECH CONTINUES HOME STAND VS. FURMAN    
• Virginia Tech is in the midst of a three-game home stand at Lane Stadium, hosting Furman on Saturday (9/14).  
• VT registered a 31-17 win vs. Old Dominion (9/7), while Furman is coming off a 48-42 loss at Georgia State (9/7).  
• Tech posted a 42-3 win vs. Furman (9/12/15) in the most recent meeting between the two squads in Frank Beamer's final campaign as VT's head coach. 
• VT is 7-1 at home under head coach Justin Fuente in September with that lone loss coming vs. Clemson (9/30/17).    
• Furman's loss last week snapped a five-game winning streak dating back to 2018. The Paladins have won seven of their last nine games. 
• Furman's most recent contest vs. an ACC foe resulted in a 48-7 loss at No. 2 Clemson (9/1/18). 
• VT enjoys a bye next weekend before resuming ACC play with a Friday night contest vs. Duke (9/27). That contest will be televised by ACC Network.
 
PLAYMAKERS APLENTY ON VT'S OFFENSE  
• Former prep QB turned true freshman WR Tayvion Robinson leads Tech with 10 catches for 134 yards. His 67.0 ypg average ranks 10th in the ACC. 
• WR Hezekiah Grimsley tied a career high with six catches and registered a career-high 98 receiving yards at BC (8/31). He owns a TD catch in both games in 2019 and ranks ninth in the ACC, averaging 71.5 receiving ypg. 
• TE James Mitchell and WRs Kaleb Smith and Tavion Robinson got their first career TD catches at Boston College (8/31). 
• After catching 10 passes for 209 yards with two TDs in the season's first season games, Turner registered 16 catches for 326 yards and two TDs in his final five contests of 2018. He ranks second on the squad with eight catches for 109 yards in 2019. 
• Former walk-on WR Kaleb Smith caught four passes for 62 yards with an 11-yard TD at Boston College (8/31).
 
KEY SCORING STATS ON HOKIES, PALADINS 
• The Hokies have won 25 straight contests when holding foes to 21 points or fewer dating back to 2015. 
• Tech owns a 76-4 (.950) mark at Lane Stadium when holding foes to 17 points or less dating back to 2000. 
• Furman is 1-14 in its last 15 road games when scoring 17 points or fewer. 
• The Paladins are 1-5 under head coach Clay Hendrix when scoring 21 points or fewer and have won 10 of their last 11 games when scoring 30+ points.  
• Tech is 18-3 when scoring 30+ points under Fuente. 
• Furman is 3-6 when allowing 30+ points under Hendrix. 
• Virginia Tech owns a 23-1 mark under Fuente when leading at halftime. The Hokies led 17-3 at the half last week vs. ODU (9/7).

• Since Bud Foster took over sole duties as Tech's defensive coordinator in 1996, no FBS program in the nation has accumulated more sacks than the #LPD.
• The #LPD racked up 5.0 sacks vs. ODU (9/7), Tech's most since registering 5.0 at Florida State (9/3/18).
