BLACKSBURG – Head coach Justin Fuente announced Thursday that P Oscar Bradburn will wear Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey on Friday in Virginia Tech's game vs. Duke. It will mark the third time that he has earned the honor of wearing Beamer's No. 25 jersey.
Bradburn (6-1, 221) leads the ACC and ranks second in the nation with a 50.1-yard gross punting average. He is second with seven punts of 50+ yards. Seven of his 13 punts in 2019 have been downed inside the opponent's 20-yard line. He owns the two longest punts in the ACC this season, 69 yards vs. ODU (9/7) and 66 yards vs. Furman (9/14).
Bradburn is on the Ray Guy Award Watch List and was named to the Ray Guy Great 8 on following his performance vs. Old Dominion on Sept. 7 that included a 69-yard punt, the longest boot in the ACC this season. He also registered a 66-yard punt vs. Furman on Sept. 14.
The Australia native has had the opportunity wear No. 25 two other times in his career, vs. North Carolina in 2017 and again last season at Duke.
At the beginning of the 2016 season, head coach Justin Fuente announced that a special teams' player of the week would be selected to wear the No. 25 as a tribute to Coach Beamer and his legacy of special teams' excellence he established for the Hokies.
