Tech results in ACC openers - overall and at home
- In its 15 years in the league, the Hokies are just 4-10-1 in ACC openers, which includes losing four straight and being outscored 10-1. However, those matches were at No. 7 Florida State (3-0, 2018), at No. 4 Duke (3-0, 2017), at No. 4 Virginia (2-0, 2016) and versus No. 3 North Carolina (2-1, 2015).
- Tech was at No. 25 Miami to open the 2008 ACC slate, which resulted in a 1-1 tie.
- In ACC home openers, the Hokies are 7-7-1, which includes a 1-0 win last year over No. 6 Virginia and two matches against Miami - a 5-0 win in 2005 and a 1-1 tie in 2007.
- The Hokies are 3-4 in matches when the ACC opener is also their home opener
- Overall, Tech has been outscored 27-15 in openers, but in home openers they hold a 24-22 edge.
- When facing an unranked foe in ACC openers, the Hokies are 3-0 (7-1 scoring advantage) and are 4-0-1 (14-2) in ACC home openers.

The Hokies versus Miami (see more Page 2)
- All-time, Tech is 10-4-4 against the Hurricanes, outscoring them 27-14 in the process.
- In Blacksburg, the Hokies hold a 7-1-2 edge, including winners of four in a row.
- In last year's meeting, Allyson Brown scored nine minutes into the match and Emily Gray registered the first of her career in the 52nd minute to secure the 2-0 victory.
- The win was also the 100th victory in head coach Chugger Adair's career (all at Tech).

McGlynn is ACC Defensive Player of the Week
- Announced by the ACC on Sept. 17, Tech's Mandy McGlynn was selected as the ACC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Hokies remain perfect on the season by posting back-to-back shutouts at the Battle by the Beach in Wilmington, N.C.
- The honor is the fourth of her Tech career, which is now the most ever for a women's soccer player at the school. McGlynn picked up her first on Oct. 3, 2017 as a sophomore, and was twice chosen as the defensive player of the week last year (Aug. 21 and Oct. 2). The only other Hokie with multiple selections by the ACC is Murielle Tiernan, who earned the last of her three offensive awards on Sept. 6, 2016.
- McGlynn continued the hot start to her final season by posting shutouts No. 5 and 6 of 2019 in Tech's 1-0 wins over the College of Charleston and UNCW. She was also named to the all-tournament team.
