BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech athletics is set to host two weekend contests beginning with the 9th-ranked Hokies' men's soccer team facing No. 18 North Carolina on Friday night at Thompson Field. On Saturday Virginia Tech football will welcome Furman to Lane Stadium. Women's soccer takes its 6-0 record on the road while volleyball travels for its third consecutive weekend tournament. Men's and women's tennis open their fall slates on the road as well.

The Virginia Tech men's soccer team is now ranked ninth in the United Soccer Coaches Poll after recording two wins over the past weekend at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott JMU Invitational. After defeating Loyola (MD) and RV Hofstra, the Hokies have improved to 4-0 for just the fifth time in school history. This Friday, Sept. 13 from Thompson Field, Virginia Tech will open conference play in its home debut against No. 18 North Carolina (2-1-1), marking the Hokies' first ranked matchup of the season.

The Virginia Tech football team will return to Lane Stadium following last weekend's 31-17 victory over Old Dominion, improving to 1-1 on the year. Virginia Tech will play host to Furman (1-1), Saturday, Sept. 14, as the Hokies look to move to 2-1 on the season, heading into the bye week.

The Virginia Tech women's tennis team will open its ten-tournament fall schedule this weekend at the Bedford Cup, hosted by JTCC. The Bedford Cup will mark the first of eight invitationals away from home during the fall season for the Hokies. The Hokies will return home for their subsequent matches, hosting the Hokie Fall Invite in October, marking the first of two home tournaments to be held in Blacksburg this season.

The four-team tournament will feature the opponents of UC Irvine (1-5) and Loyola Chicago (3-4) on Friday, Sept. 13, followed by Saturday's match against Air Force (2-4) on Sept. 14.
