Huge performances over the weekend by alumni Hanna Green and Neil Gourley results in two gold medals and a bid to the IAAF World Championships.
Green got the ball rolling on Friday as she won the 800-meter run at the Diamond League Meet in Paris, France with her time of 1 minute; 58.39 seconds. The win qualified her for the Diamond League Final in two weeks in Brussels, Belgium.
Earlier this summer, Green earned a bid to the IAAF World Championships with her second-place time of 1:58.19 at the USATF Championships earlier this summer.
Gourley will also be at the IAAF World Championships as the former Hokie clocked a time of 3:48.36 in the 1,500-meter run at the Muller British Athletics Championships earlier today to win gold and earn an automatic bid.
The IAAF World Championships will be held in Doha, Qatar later this year, Setember 28 - October 6.
