Hokies in Paris: Another tour of the City of Light in the morning, getting down to business on the hardwood in the afternoon

PARIS – The weary Hokies got a good night's sleep and reported to the hotel lobby for a unique Parisian breakfast that featured American classics such as cereal, pancakes and bacon but also had a few surprises. Amongst them was a fresh charcuterie board, as well as a serving dish of tomatoes and perhaps most unusual was the dish of Chinese noodles, certainly not what the group was used to being offered at 9 a.m.

After filling up on whatever they were adventurous enough to try, the Virginia Tech contingent loaded up on the bus for a guided city tour that lasted over 90 minutes and included stops at the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and many other magnificent buildings along the way.

But in the afternoon, the team's attention turned once again to the hardwood where they would face Parisian Select. Virginia Tech may have had an inauspicious first few minutes in the game, but the group quickly found their feet and would ultimately coast to a comfortable victory in game number one of the tour.

Dara Mabrey's 6 of 10 shooting from beyond the arc stood out as she scored 18 points and dished out four assists. She led five Hokies in double figures on the afternoon. In the post, Tech saw significant contributions from Trinity Baptiste who led all players with 19 rebounds and also scored 14 points, and freshman Elizabeth Kitley who scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Taja Cole, a grad transfer from Georgia, added 10 points, seven assists and eight steals.
