Becca DiNunzio wins VSGA Junior Girls Championship

Becca DiNunzio, an incoming freshman from Norfolk, Virginia, posted a two round total of 6-under 234 and won the 2019 VSGA Junior Girls Championship Tuesday afternoon. The two-day, 36-hole event was played at the Broad Bay Country Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
 
DiNunzio entered Tuesday's final round tied for the lead with Rory Weinfurther after each shot 1-under 69 on Monday. In Tuesday's second and final round, DiNunzio carded a 5-under 65 to take the title by four strokes. After a bogey on the par-4 second, DiNunzio played bogey-free while recording six birdies in the final 16 holes. Her 65 today was the low round of the championship.
 
This has been a strong summer for DiNunzio. Earlier, she won the stroke play qualifying for the VSGA Women's Amateur in Virginia Beach. She advanced to the semifinal round before falling to Weinfurther. She also won medalist honors at the sectional qualifier of the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship in Fredericksburg, Virginia and finished second in the VSGA Women's Stroke Play Championship in Richmond.
