Hokie ClubFor the second consecutive year, sophomore Paige Petty was recognized as an All-State player by the state's sports information directors (VaSID), the organization announced Friday morning. Petty earned first team honors. Joining her from the Hokies was sophomore defender Elena Ricci who got her first nod, on the second team.
Petty, a first team All-ACC selection, as well as All-Academic Team member had a historic season in Blacksburg, scoring 66 goals, a new program record. Her 74 total points tied the program-best mark.
On the draw circle, Petty corralled 68, the eighth-most in a single season at Tech.
After just two years, Petty's name is stamped across the Virginia Tech lacrosse record book. The Bernardsville, New Jersey native ranks sixth in goals (124) and is tied for tenth in total points scored (139). She is also eighth in draw controls with 123.
Petty's 2019 accolades now include:
- First Team All-ACC
- ACC All-Academic Team
- IWLCA Second Team All-South Region
- Inside Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention
- Tewaaraton Award Watch List
Ricci had a fantastic 2019 season as well, which culminated in her recognition on the All-ACC second team. Her 66 draws won were the third most on the squad in 2019, but was amongst the league leaders. Those 66 leave her in ninth place at Tech for a single season tally in that category.
The Alexandria, Virginia native also scooped up 38 ground balls and caused 18 turnovers over the course of the season.
