Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – Senior Jason Kros and freshman Brandon Perez have earned 2019 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State honors as voted on by the sports information directors from around the state and announced Thursday.
Kros earned first team honors in singles and second team honors in doubles with teammate Perez.
Kros continues to add to his accolades this postseason following a standout senior campaign in which he was named All-ACC Second Team, ITA National Most Improved Senior as well as ITA Atlantic Region Most Improve Senior and ITA Atlantic Region Senior Player of the Year. In addition, Kros represented the Hokies at the NCAA Singles Championships. The Newcastle, Virginia native posted a 26-16 overall record this season en route to a No. 70 national ranking as he picked up three wins over ranked opponents, all against ACC foes during spring duals. Kros also had a solid double season with a 21-8 tally.
Additionally, Kros has been named second-team all-state in doubles with Perez. The duo went 14-5 this spring, including an 11-5 tally at the two for the Hokies with a 6-4 mark in ACC play. Kros and Perez posted wins in matches to help the Hokies clinch doubles points against Notre Dame, Miami, Virginia, Georgia Tech and NC State. The pair also recorded a win in the match against No. 2 Wake Forest.
