Magarity signs professional contract in Turkey

Season ticket renewals ACCN, the only way to watch the Hokies

Former Virginia Tech women's basketball great Regan Magarity has signed a professional contract with Hatay Buyuksehir Belediyespor of the Turkish Women's Basketball Super League, the highest level in the country. The club plays in the city of Hatay at the Antakya Sport Hall.
 
Magarity goes down in history as one of the best to put on a maroon and orange jersey for the Hokies after completing a career that includes owning the career rebounding record, finishing third all-time in scoring and blocks and tied for 10th in 3-point field goals made. 
 
The first woman in Virginia Tech history to record 1,000 rebounds, Magarity corralled an ACC record 1,299 during her career and the Sweden native owns the three highest single-season rebound tallies in program history, leading the conference in that category with 12.8 per game this past season in 2018-19.
 
Magarity also is third in career field goals made, first in starts, games played and minutes played in Blacksburg. Her 55 career double-doubles top the charts as well.
 
In 2018-19 Magarity earned ACC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 4 for her role in the Hokies' first two conference victories, both on the road where she averaged 22 points and 15.5 rebounds. She poured in a career best 30 against Boston College during that road stretch. 
 
The 6-foot-3 forward earned second team All-ACC honors this past season, averaging 14.1 points and 12.8 rebounds. Magarity, who graduated with a degree in multimedia journalism is a three-time All-ACC Academic selection.

Magarity also earned All-ACC second-team honors in 2019. Her 435 rebounds during the 2018-19 season and career 1,299 are the highest tallies in ACC women's basketball history. She was a WNIT All-Tournament Team member in 2018 and was included in the Virginia Sports Information Directors' All-State Team in 2019.
 
The Sweden native became the fifth Hokie to be drafted to the WNBA, when she was chosen with pick number 33 to the Connecticut Sun in the 2019 WNBA Draft on April 10.
