Chauncey Chambers and Nykah Smith of the Virginia Tech track and field teams wrapped up competing at the U20 Outdoor Championships in Miramar, Florida Sunday afternoon
Smith kicked off the day with the 200-meter dash preliminaries and just missed on qualifying. The top eight times advanced, and with her time of 24.10 seconds the freshman finished 10th.
In the men's triple jump, Chambers used a leap of 14.90 meters (48 feet, 10.75 inches) to tally a sixth-place finish.
Earning a top-two finish Saturday night in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Ben Nibbelink will compete for the U.S. team at the Pan American Junior Championships held July 18-21 in San Jose, Costa Rica

Virginia Tech track and field distance runner Ben Nibbelink finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the USA Junior Outdoor Championships being held in Miramar, Florida.
Nibbelink ran a personal best time of 9 minutes, 7.66 seconds to win the silver medal. As a result of finishing in the top two of his event, he will be on the U.S. team that will compete at the Pan American Junior Championships held July 18-21 in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Sunday will see Nykah Smith participating in the first round of the 200-meter dash at 3:57 p.m. ET, while Chauncey Chambers will compete in the triple jump at 4:45 p.m. ET.
