GREENSBORO, N.C. – Nine student-athletes of the Virginia Tech track and field teams were named to the All-ACC Academic team, as announced by the league office on Friday.
The men's ACC Outdoor Championship team was represented by Jack Joyce, Bashir Mosavel-Lo and Peter Seufer. Mosavel-Lo highlights the group as the sophomore won the 800-meter race with his time of 1 minute, 49.90 seconds, and was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that clocked a time of 3:13.49 to clinch the men's ninth ACC title. Joyce picks up outdoor academic honors for the first time, while Mosavel-Lo and Seufer make the team for the second time of their careers.
The women's team saw Eszter Bajnok, Sarah Edwards, Sara Freix, Rachel Pocratsky, Kayla Richardson and Emma Thor all collect academic honors. The women are highlighted by Pocratsky, as she defended her ACC Outdoor titles in the 800 (2:04.52) and the 1,500 (4:18.42). Bajnok and Pocratsky pick up outdoor honors for the first time, while Freix and Richardson receive honors for the second time and Edwards and Thor make it to the All-Academic team for the third-straight outdoor season.
The minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes each conference student-athlete with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
