Diana up next in “Senior Sendoff” Q&A

BLACKSBURG – As Virginia Tech Spring 2019 Commencement approaches, it's a good time to visit with the Tech women's soccer players who finished off their careers with the Hokies last fall. In a final "Senior Sendoff" Q&A, each answered questions about both their academic and athletic time here at Tech.

Our next senior is former midfielder Kristina Diana.

Q: Dino, what will you be earning your degree in?
KD: "Business Information Technology"

Q: Why did you pursue this educational path?
KD: "The course work within the field of technology was something I was initially interested in."

Q: Are you walking in May?
KD: "Yes, I will be walking in May. My entire family will be here including my parents, my two sisters, my brother and my brother-in-law, as well as my aunts and uncle."

Q: What are your future plans?
KD: "I will be working in Arlington, Virginia as a Business Technology Analyst at Deloitte Consulting."

Q: What will earning your degree from Virginia Tech mean to you?
KD: "When committing to Virginia Tech in high school, obviously soccer was a huge, important aspect, but the end goal was always to get a good education and to graduate with a degree that helps me start my future career. So finally being able to say that I earned my degree from Virginia Tech is a huge achievement for me."

Q: What was your favorite memory during your time here with VTWS?
KD: "My favorite memory will be the celebration of beating UVA my senior year in the pouring down rain. Everyone was body sliding around on the muddy field and it was one of the coolest experiences to be a part of."

Q: What will you miss most about being on the VTWS team?
KD: "I will miss competing and being around all the girls 24/7. The team became my second family so not being directly involved in that next year will be hard but I cannot wait to watch them kill it on the field."

Q: What advice would you give to the underclassmen or the newest recruits coming into the program?
KD: "I think I would just say have fun when you're playing. Don't be so focused on playing time, the coaches, other players, or any other problems that may arise. Your time being a student-athlete at VT will go by faster than you think so just focus on taking advantage of playing the sport you love every day."

Q: What was the most impactful thing to you, with being a part of this program?
KD: "Just having the amount of support that we did as student-athletes was super impactful. There was a service for pretty much anything you needed. Whether that was the training room, SAASS, the nutrition staff, the sport psychology staff, etc. The list could go on forever. The athletics department really goes above and beyond to make sure all the student-athletes have enough support as possible."
