BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech will have three wrestlers competing at U23 World Team Trials this weekend in Akron, Ohio from June 1-2.
Freshman Collin Gerardi will wrestle at 61 kg, redshirt freshman Caden Darber will be at 70 kg and sophomore Hunter Bolen will compete at 86 kg. FloWrestling will have complete coverage of the event. Click here for the event page.
Bolen, who recently competed at the US Open, is coming off of a redshirt season where he went 13-1 at open tournaments. The Open Mat recognized Bolen as one of the top redshirts in the country last season. The Christiansburg, Va., native went 21-12 as a true freshman, qualified for the NCAA Championships and was the 2018 ACC Freshman of the Year.
Gerardi went 17-6 wrestling unattached and placed seventh at the Southern Scuffle, where he went 4-2. Darber went 14-8 as a true freshman in 2017-18 and competed in three open tournaments last season.
