ORLANDO, Fla. – Coming just hours after earning ITA National Most Improved Senior honors, senior Jason Kros has moved off the alternate list and into the NCAA Singles main draw to compete in the opening round on Monday, May 20 at 1 p.m. at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
Kros, ranked No. 70, replaces Wake Forest's Petros Chrysochos and will square off against Tennessee's No. 23 Timo Stodder.
The Tech senior was just announced as the ITA National Most Improved Senior and also picked up the honor at the regional level. In addition, he was named the Atlantic Region Senior of the Year.
He posted a 26-16 overall record this season. In spring duals, Kros went 13-10 record playing at the one en route to a No. 70 national ranking, picking up three wins over ranked opponent, all against ACC foes. Against #44 Duke, Kros defeated Nick Stachowiak (No. 41) convincingly, 6-2, 6-3. Not long after at #44 Georgia Tech, he battled to a three-set victory against Carlos Divar (No. 30). Earlier this month, Kros ousted Adria Sorriano Barrera (No. 36) in a match against #24 Miami. He has remained ranked all season.
Kros joins a list of 18 Hokies to compete in the NCAA singles, including most recently Mitch Harper in 2018.
