By winning the 61 kg championship at the US Open on April 27, assistant coach Cody Brewer received a bye to the best-of-three finals. The winner of the finals will face reigning World bronze medalist Joe Colon at Final X in Lincoln, Neb., on June 15 for a spot on this year's World team.

Also in the running for a spot on this year's senior World Team is volunteer assistant coach Ty Walz. Walz took fourth at 97 kg at the US Open last month and placed second at last year's World Team Trials.
