Tech falls to No. 50 Notre Dame 5-2

BLACKSBURG, VA. –  The Virginia Tech women's tennis team fell to No. 50 Notre Dame 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.   
 
Notre Dame got the doubles point with wins on courts one and three, but Nika Kozar and Nina Sorkin picked up a 6-3 win on court two.
 
The Irish won the first three singles matches to secure the team decision. For the Hokies, Rita Pinto picked up a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win over Bess Waldram on court five.
 
Tech also got a point from Sorkin as she battled to three sets to pick up a 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-4 win.
 
Samantha Gillas put up a fight on court three. After falling in the first set 6-2, Gillas came back to win the second 6-3 but ultimately fell 7-5 in the third.
 
The Hokies will be back on the court Friday, April 12 for a 3 p.m. match against Wake Forest at home.
