No. 43 Hokies head to Sunshine State for two ranked matches

BLACKSBURG ­– The 43rd-ranked Virginia Tech men's tennis team is heading south for a pair of matches in the Sunshine State. Tech will face No. 24 Miami on Friday before making the trip to No. 31 Florida State for a Sunday contest.

THE HOKIES (15-5, 5-3 ACC)
Virginia Tech is taking a seven-match win streak into the weekend after defeating No. 16 Notre Dame 5-2 on Sunday at home. Tech came away with the doubles point and secured singles wins from Henrik Korsgaard, Alex Ribeiro, Brandon Perez and Evan Fragistas.
 
Senior Jason Kros enters the weekend ranked 66th in the latest ITA standings. He has posted a 12-7 record this season with an 11-7 mark at the one. Korsgaard brings a 10-3 tally into the matches while Carlo Donato is 11-4.
 
THE HURRICANES (15-6, 6-2 ACC)
Miami is coming off a 4-0 loss at Louisville. The Hurricanes also faced North Carolina on the road last weekend, falling to the No. 11 Tar Heels 4-1. Miami got the doubles point in that match, but UNC claimed three singles in straight sets.
 
Entering the weekend, Miami has two players ranked in the latest ITA standings with dria Soriano Barrera at No. 36 and Bojan Jankulovski at No. 91. Barrera is 9-5 on the spring at the one while Jankulovski holds a 7-7 tally. Franco Aubone and Dane Dunlap have both posted 10 wins on the season.
 
THE SEMINOLES (14-7, 4-4 ACC)
Florida State fell to No. 11 North Carolina 6-1 the last time out. The Seminoles got the point on court six as Sebastian Arcila defeated Mac Kiger. FSU will play No. 5 Virginia on Friday before facing the Hokies on Sunday.
 
The Seminoles enter the weekend with Lucas Poullain ranked No. 39 in the ITA singles standings. The doubles tandem of Alex Knaff and Aziz Dougaz is No. 70. Poullain is 12-2 with a 7-2 tally at the one. Knaff brings in a record of 10-6 in singles.
 
UP NEXT: The Hokies remain on the road for the final regular-season weekend of the spring, traveling to Louisville and Virginia.
