Emery, Magarity collect All-State honors Tuesday

Two Virginia Tech players, Taylor Emery and Regan Magarity were recognized by VaSID Tuesday as All-State performers. Emery earns her second inclusion on the team, following up last season's first team nod, with another first team honor in 2019. Magarity was placed on the second team. 
 
VaSID is an organization comprised of sports information directors across the state who nominate and vote for student-athletes.

Taylor Emery

  • Led the Hokies and was third in the ACC in scoring at 19.0 points per game.
  • Earned first team All-ACC honors, becoming the first Hokie to ever make the first team. In the process with her two All-ACC nods, she became the first Hokie to earn the honor twice.
  • ACC All-Tournament Team.
  • Reached 1,000 points in 55 career games, shattering the previous record of 71 set by Tere Williams. 
  • Finished her career 11th in scoring at Virginia Tech, while ranking sixth in 3-pointers made and owning the highest scoring average in program history at 18.8 points per game.
  • ACC All-Academic.

 
Regan Magarity

  • Led the ACC in rebounding setting a league record with 435 total rebounds, a new program record as well as a league single season record. She averaged 12.8 boards per contest. 
  • Earned second team All-ACC honors after averaging a career best 14.1 points and 12.8 rebounds.
  • Was named the ACC Player of the Week on Feb. 4 after leading the Hokies to consecutive road victories.
  • Graduates with the most rebounds (1,299) in league history.
  • Concludes her career in Blacksburg ranking first in rebounds, third in points, third in blocks and tied for 10thin 3-pointers made. Magarity has the most minutes played, games played and starts in a Virginia Tech uniform.
  • Tallied 22 double-doubles on the season and her 55 in her career rank first all-time at Tech.
  • ACC All-Academic.
