Three Hokies earn All-ACC accolades Tuesday

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Three Virginia Tech lacrosse players earned All-Conference honors Tuesday, the league office announced. Paige Petty, Emma Crooks and Elena Ricci earned the distinction voted upon by the league's head coaches. For Petty, with her second consecutive first team selection, she becomes the first Hokie to ever earn first team All-ACC honors twice. 
 


 
North Carolina led all teams with six selections, Boston College had five players on the team while Notre Dame and Syracuse each had four selections.
 
The 2019 All-ACC Women's Lacrosse team features 13 repeat selections from last season, including seven repeat first-teamers in Boston College's Apuzzo, Arsenault and Miller, Syracuse's Hawryshuk, Virginia's Mueller, Virginia Tech's Petty and Notre Dame's Giacolone.
 
Petty, a sophomore and Tewaaraton Award Watch List member repeats as a first teamer, becoming the first player in program history to accumulate multiple first team nods.
 
She's led the Hokies with a program record 62 goals this season, a mark which is third in the conference. Petty has also been solid on the draw circle, corralling 66. 
 


 
For Crooks and Ricci, both sophomores as well, it is their first All-Conference selections. Crooks, from Great Falls, Virginia has been the primary draw taker for the Hokies, and leads the squad with 68 draw controls on the season. She is also second in goals (40) and points (46). Defensively, the midfielder has caused nine turnovers and grabbed 20 ground balls. 
 


 
Ricci from Alexandria, Virginia has started 16 games on defense for the Hokies. Another factor on the draw circle, Ricci has 65 on the season. Defensively, she has caused 16 turnovers and has scooped up 38 ground balls.

The Hokies, who will practice in Boston today in preparation for the ACC tournament which begins tomorrow, Wednesday, April 24 will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels at 5 p.m. from Alumni Stadium on the campus of Boston College. The game can be seen on RSN.
